How to make killer long-form content
Borrow but don't steal.
Can you think of a video you saw this week that blew your mind? Knocked your socks off?
It’s hard to make really awesome video content. But it’s not impossible.
There’s a simple 3-step method we use to create videos that SLAP for our B2B clients.
Here’s how it works:
Step 1: Find what’s already working
Look for a popular content creator in your niche who consistently makes great videos. Scan their content for an outlier – a video that’s significantly outperformed the rest. I.e. tons more views, likes, or interactions. Ideally, you want to find one that’s less than 90 days old.
Step 2: Analyze the magic
Once you’ve found a high-performing video, break it down:
Structure – How is it organized?
Pacing – Fast cuts or slow storytelling?
Visuals – Is it polished or raw?
Messaging – What’s the key takeaway?
Pro tip: Use ChatGPT or Claude to analyze the transcript. These tools are great at spotting patterns you might have missed. Just make sure you double-check its answers.
Step 3: Apply, don’t copy
You don’t want to just copy the video one for one. It probably won’t perform, but also.. plagiarism? You’re better than that.
Take what you learned from your analysis and find ways to replicate it in your own content. Maybe you found the balance of storytelling and data compelling, or maybe it was flashy visuals that pulled people in.
That’s it. Three simple steps to creating videos that grab attention and turn it into revenue.
